Oh the things that I will do for my craft. This morning, just moments ago, I just finished eating the most delectable, delightful, delicious, devilish, divine, whatever d-word you can think of french toast. One of my friends, Lauren, suggested that I make french toast with the chocolate bread that I’ve been talking about for the past two weeks.
Yesterday my housemate went and got chocolate bread from the farmers market. Honestly, I wasn’t convinced that the bread was going to make it through the night. I was so concerned that when it was my turn to check out the farmers market I was tempted to buy another loaf. I resisted, but just barely. Last night when I got home, my housemate and a friend were in her bedroom, so I snuck in the kitchen and cut two pieces of bread. I sat there hoping that no one would catch me. I’m sure I had chocolate all over my face and would have looked like a cheshire cat. I put the bread back in the bag and went to bed. It was tough, I thought about the bread all night long.
When I woke this morning my housemate went to the grocery store to get eggs and butter and I got the Wii fit out and did a small work out. Somehow I felt like that would make me feel better when I ate a thousand calorie breakfast. I took a shower, the housemate got home and it was time for breakfast.
First thing I did was cut the chocolate bread into four big slices.
Then I mixed up 3 eggs and 1/2 cup of whole milk. I would usually use cream but I didn’t have any. I thought about using fat free milk, then I chuckled and throw all caution to the wind.
I then put a pan on the stove with a tablespoon of butter, heat it up for a moment while I dipped the bread in the egg mixture. Put the dipped bread in the pan and cooked until a golden brown.
Here it is sans butter and syrup.
Here is it with the butter and syrup.
Look at that chocolate, syrup and butter. My stomach is starting to ache just thinking about it. Talk about the most sinful dish I’ve had a in long time.
You have to, have to, have to, get some of this bread from the Berkshire Mountain Bakery. They do ship. You will not be disappointed. Now, I have to stop shaking and try to get to work! I hope you realize how dedicated I am to you all and this blog!
